Unsinkable spirit!
After applying the nail enamel, Mar had to spend several minutes alternating between blowing on it and rapidly waving the boat back and forth. Then she had to apply another coating, and do it again.
That's just what happened between panels 1 and 2, except they waved the oars on the enamel instead of waving the full boat.
